Where we Started 🔥[break][break]
Saffron came into the world screaming his little lungs out like any healthy baby would. Due to the bright yellow hair he had at birth he was given the name Saffron. He was born in Floaroma town sinnoh to a well-practiced general surgeon and a local flower shop owner.

Chapter two;
Love, game of the decade.
[break][break]
🔥
Is it love? 🔥[break][break]
Many people would have said that finding the love of your life in early school years is a miracle. Saffron would tell you that you should be careful of who you give your heart out to. His high school sweetheart turned out to be a lifetime nightmare.
[break][break]
The day he had met Indigo it was the end of fifth grade and he was sitting in the art hallway working on his end-of-the-year project. Some of the kids thought it would be a funny idea to steal his paintbrushes and throw the dirty cup of water onto his white shirt. Saffron wasn’t a vocal kid, he preferred to be quiet and do things solo.
[break][break]
Well, Indigo had seen the bullying and decided to take action.
[break][break]
“Hey! I saw that! I’m going to tell the teacher,” She’d shout at them, pointing an accusing finger. The boys stopped their harassment and went back to their class. Instead of thanking Indigo, Saffron ran away into the boy’s bathroom, completely embarrassed.
[break][break]
After that day Indigo seemed to show up everywhere. Saffron tried to give her a cold and quiet shoulder but she stuck like an annoying bug. He didn’t quite mind having someone to listen to though, as Indigo did a lot of talking.
[break][break]
In a year’s time, they’d start dating and going steady. At the time Saffron would say he’s in love with Indigo. As time went on the two stayed together despite being opposites all the way until they graduated. They were known for the best relationship, though things weren’t as perfect as they seemed.[break][break]
🔥
Oh baby, don’t hurt me, 🔥[break][break]
Indigo became much more controlling after high school. Now adults and able to live their own lives it seems she wished to have complete control over Saffron’s life, and she did. Saffron was forced to stop talking to his friends and to cut off his family. It was a slow and gradual process that left Saffron sad and isolated. She was the breadwinner of the home and Saffron only had a part-time job so he wouldn’t go stir crazy. Indigo had always been emotional but eventually, it turned to verbal abuse. Saffron constantly felt like he was walking on eggshells and that his life wasn’t his own. He felt trapped but was unsure of how he’d do without Indigo, who has been at his side for such a long time.
[break][break]
At twenty-five Indigo brought up the idea of starting a family. Saffron was on the edge about the idea and expressed that maybe they should wait. Indigo wasn’t happy to hear him hesitate. Indigo became pregnant suspiciously soon after their open discussion and this is when Saffron realized it didn’t matter what he wanted.

🔥
Don’t hurt me, 🔥[break][break]
Saffron let the feeling of betrayal slide and focused on caring for his now pregnant wife. In nine months they were blessed with a little baby girl. They couldn’t stop the color naming theme and named their daughter Blue. The first three years were euphoric to Saffron. He didn’t know if he would have made a good father, but he picked it naturally. His wife struggled for a connection with the baby and became jealous of how Blue favored Saffron over her.
[break][break]
The lifestyle and environment he provided Blue was not the one he wished. Indigo yelled in front of her and many times became physical. Saffron refuses to hit back and will simply take the hits or gingerly try to block them. Eventually, the anger Indigo had was turned towards Blue, and that was when Saffron was able to have a glimpse of reality.
[break][break]
🔥
No more… 🔥[break][break]
While making a plan to leave Indigo, Blue becomes sick. At first, it was thought just to be some kind of flu, but eventually, a doctor broke the news.
[break][break]
“Brain cancer?” Saffron asked with a gaped mouth.
[break][break]
She was given a year to live with treatment. It was fast-growing and in a part of the brain that the doctors don’t feel comfortable and confident working on. Saffron’s life was shattered. He had this beautiful, bouncy, playful little girl for three years… and now he had only one year left with her? And then what, he’d be all alone with Indigo.
[break][break]
“We are moving to my parent’s home in Hoenn then. They have a great hospital, beautiful environment, and they can help,” Indigo at this point had pretty much no reaction to the situation until Saffron brought up moving. It quickly turned to Indigo screaming at Saffron to the point where he couldn’t get a word out and the doctor needing to tell her to calm down.
[break][break]
“I didn’t mean you,” Saffron would say finally. “You can stay here and do whatever you want with your life,” The silver wedding band was wiggled off of his finger and he placed it on a counter. Indigo was so enraged she had to be dragged by a security guard for causing a disturbance.
[break][break]
Saffron would then go into the hospital room with Blue and help break the news. He stayed optimistic and cheerful for her sake. For the next few months, Saffron had to juggle doctors appointments and his divorcing situation. Blue was doing better than expected. After the official separation of Saffron and Indigo, they went to custody court where Saffron earned full custody of Blue.
[break][break]
The two could relax and enjoy themselves for once without needing to worry. Blue was a fighter and at the one-year mark of her diagnosis, she landed in Hoenn. Saffron was able to make amends with his parents. It was Indigo who had made him cut ties with all of his family and friends, but his parents were more than pleased to see their son and meet their granddaughter.
[break][break]
Blue would worsen soon after getting to Hoenn and would be hospital-bound for the time being.

Chapter three;
Leaves changing
[break][break]
🔥
A Wild Tangerine 🔥[break][break]
“Again, again!” Saffron would hear the cheerful giggles of Blue from inside of her hospital room. Peaking in he could see an unattended Charmander by her bed spitting out little embers. A little concerned, he came in. Blue explained he was a wild pokemon and begged to catch it.
[break][break]
“I guess you’re old enough for your first, Kiddo,” Saffron went to Blue’s bed and helped her onto her feet. He gave her one of his spare balls. “Alright… Aiiiiim…” From behind Saffron guided her arm up and helped strengthen her throw. “NOW!” The ball hit the curious Charmander in the chest.
[break][break]
“One…” Saffron started. The ball wiggled.
[break][break]
“TWO!” Blue squealed. It teetered...
[break][break]
“THREEEEE!” They hollered together and the ball clicked. Swooping her up bridal Saffron did a few spins while cheering for his daughters first catch. Putting her back in bed he handed her the ball with her new partner.
[break][break]
“I’m going to become a pokemon master with Tangerine daddy, watch me!” Blue said with such a fire in her chest it made Saffron’s legs turn to jelly.
[break][break]
🔥
The sky has never looked so Blue, Kiddo 🔥[break][break]
Blue would die three years and five months after her initial diagnosis. Her death was peaceful and Saffron thanked whoever was watching over them that he was there at the time of passing. It was simply her time to go, even if he wasn’t ready for it.
[break][break]
🔥
The Promise 🔥[break][break]
“Tangerine, come on out!” Saffron sat in front of the tombstone of Blue. A fresh bouquet of flowers is neatly placed on the grass. It had been a year.
[break][break]
“Do you want to join me in becoming a pokemon master?” The Charmander blinked at Saffron and glanced at the tombstone. Their orange maw trembled before leaping onto Saffron, sobbing.
[break][break]
“Ah, I’m glad. We’ll do it for her then.”
